GHD prioritises inclusivity and creates a welcoming environment for all employees, regardless of their gender identity and sexual orientation. This commitment to inclusion transcends beyond caring for our people it encompasses how we care for our business and our communities.
During Global Pride Month in June, GHD actively participated in various initiatives to support LGBTQIA+ inclusion and was proud to announce a new globally aligned name for their LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group, now known as the Pride Alliance.
The Pride Alliance in Aotearoa organised GHD’s inaugural Rainbow Rave; an avant-garde event that celebrated and supported the LGBTQIA+ community. The event was a resounding success, raising awareness and funds for ‘Sweat with Pride’, an initiative run by the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa, in which GHD took part. It brought colleagues together in a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, showcasing the power of collaboration and contributing to ‘sweat minutes’ which were logged by participants. The event featured LED poi, hula hoop performances and dancing to live music from GHD’s very own DJ Anika Djoric. In total, GHD raised over $6,000 for Sweat with Pride and logged approximately 30,000 minutes of physical activity across Aotearoa, a mammoth effort for the team which united the Rainbow Community and its allies.
The positive reception of the Rainbow Rave exemplifies the impact of thinking outside the box and embracing creativity to foster an inclusive workplace. GHD believes that other organisations and can spark similar momentum by organising events that celebrate diversity and provide platforms for LGBTQIA+ employees to express themselves and feel valued.
Looking to the future, GHD plans to build upon the success of the Rainbow Rave welcome Diversity Agenda members to participate and strengthen the relationships within the industry.
